[October 13, 2000] "PrintML (Printing Industry Markup Language) is a professional application based on the XML language used in the graphic Industry. PrintML or Printing Industry Mark up Language, is the name of a professional application originated from the XML language to be used in the graphic industry. This application is intended for: (1) The graphic art industry professionals: printers, binders, pre-press. (2) The customers of this trade: publishers, newsprint companies and any company which regularly make use of the printing industry. (3) Their suppliers: paper merchants, paper distributors, ink, films and other consumable suppliers and sub-contractors. (4) The graphic art industry software publishers. This application aims at establishing a standard which will allow its users to exchange management data directly from computer to computer through the World Wide Web: price request, pricing information, planning, delivery, paper and order search and other messages exchanges. This application is made of the following elements: (1) A list of specific markup tags originated from the XML language. (2) A conformity control program under a DTD code. (3) A clear documentation on the exploitation and the use of the markup tags. (4) A data transfer regulation build around Internet protocols. Those elements will be given free of charge to all professionals to speed up their diffusion and adoption."
