Sethian adalah salah satu aliran Gnostisisme utama pada abad kedua ke-2 dan ke-3 Masehi, bersama dengan Valentinianisme dan Basilideanisme. Menurut John D. Turner, aliran tersebut bermula pada abad ke-3 Masehi sebagai perpaduan dari dua filsafat Yudais Helenistik dan dipengaruhi oleh Kekristenan dan Platonisme Tengah.[1] Namun, asal-usul pasti Sethianisme benar-benar tak diketahui.[2]
