I'm hitting the same issue. The extension prompts the weekly rate limit will reset in minutes (e.g. "You've reached your weekly rate limit. Please upgrade your plan or wait for your limit to reset on April 15, 2026 at 10:49 PM"), which is true, the agent processes a small amount of tokens, only to block productivity again. Seems like there is some disconnect between billing and development departments, caused by a panic ad-hoc implementation demand. |

The issues been happening for a few days now and has gotten so bad that The Register has written an article on it. More people with the same problem: I highly recommended updating us on the status of your rate limit (whether it has been fixed or not) every couple of hours to make sure this problem is visible enough to the people who need to see it. |

If yall are having issues with anthrophic-based models, there's no answer for these guys. It's better to leverage a different provider like OpenAI models or Moonshot AI kimi models. Affordable and less downtime. |

Keeping all of this buried in forum threads helps no one. More people should share their screenshots and experiences on X and LinkedIn so this issue gets proper visibility. Paid users deserve transparent limits and consistent communication. #FixCopilotLimits |

Dear GitHub Support Team, I am reaching out as a paying GitHub user to express my frustration regarding the rate limits that I recently encountered. While I understand the need for rate limits to ensure platform stability, I find it disappointing and confusing that such restrictive limits apply to paid members. As someone who subscribes to your services with the expectation of reliable, premium features, hitting a 429 βToo Many Requestsβ error and having to wait a full day before being able to continue my work feels like a penalty for using the platform as intended. Being subjected to the same or very similar restrictions as free-tier users undermines the value proposition of being a paying member. This situation raises significant concerns about the scalability and infrastructure supporting GitHub. As a paying customer, I expect fair and transparent limits that are clearly communicated upfront, not restrictions that interfere with daily workflows. It feels like GitHub prioritizes controlling usage over improving infrastructure to better support loyal subscribers. I believe issues like this could be addressed with:
I value GitHubβs services but strongly recommend reviewing how restrictions like this are applied to paying members. As someone who supports the platform financially, I expect my experience to reflect that, without feeling penalized for using the service Iβm paying for. I would appreciate clarification on the specific limits for paid members and whether there is a path to more flexibility for cases like mine. Thank you for your time. I look forward to your response. |

we all should be getting reimbursed for any wasted tokens used for
requests that never went through because of these crashes.

I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I just got charged $39 by Copilot an hour ago. I thought maybe my subscription had ended, which would explain the weekly rate limit. But surpriseβI got home, tried to use it, and I'm STILL rate-limited. So what the hell am I paying $39 for? This is highway robbery. How do I request a refund? |

My projects need to be completed as soon as possible. The dateline is just very near. Is there any alternative besides this copilot GitHub? I am using Visual Studio 2022. |

Every business /service provider should transparent to their customer. As per their below article/notes, its intentional and anytime GitHub can enforce such limitation on every users. This justifies why should users leave GitHub for better/transparent providers. This is not coincidental that yesterday sudden over usage(60x) spike which GitHub later claimed that 'UI bug', and I believe this weekly rate limit enforced very recently, when their strategy didn't work. " For Copilot Pro+, GitHub does not publish an exact numeric βweekly request countβ for rate limits. Thatβs intentional. Weekly (and global) rate limits are serviceβlevel protections, not fixed quotas you can track like premium requests. " |

I was blocked until 00:00 today, it's now 8:44 AM. I sent a /plan command to Opus 4.7, it created the plan, and immediately afterwards I received another message saying I've reached my weekly limit and can only use it again today at 8:59 PM, but the 'auto' selection is working. Note: I have the Pro+ plan. |

What's going on with Pro+? I haven't even reached the end of my subscription period, and I have plenty of budget, yet they still limit my weekly speed. It's really getting worse and worse! |

I suspect there is a serious bug within their system, so they are using this as an excuse to restrict our usage.

Got this weekly rate limit error also. First time. Upgraded from Pro to Pro+ as it explicitly states: "Please upgrade your plan or wait". As I didn't want to wait I upgraded my plan. The error is still there though. So now I'm paying more for the same thing. :-( I filed a ticket. Anybody any suggestions? Is the server not resetting? I tried logging out/in but that didn't have any effect. |

So many users have been affected by this, the official should provide appropriate compensation, otherwise a portion of users will be lost. We need to stand up for our rights together. |

Same issue. Fix your broken subscription service Github Copilot Team, please and thanks. I've not even used 40% of my limit and can't use what I paid for days, how is this even legal? Has there been any official response other than canned responses to tickets? |

Hi Copilot team
I have been using GH copilot for quite some time and never experienced heavy ratelimiting. However, today, after a short network disconnect and switch between Wifi ad mobile hotspot, I got rate limited directly and the limit seems to persist with a new time on each try.
Can you inform me what the problem is here, if this might be an issue on the GH side or how I can avoid getting rate limited like this?
Many thanks
