1. The act or process of regaining or repossession of something lost.
   1. (colloquial) A clever verbal solution to an embarrassing verbal mistake.

      When I realized I'd called my teacher "Mom" again, I made a quick recovery saying that she loves me so much that she reminds me of my mother.

2. A return to normal health.

   I hope you make a full recovery.

   Synonyms: recuperation, convalescence

3. A return to former status or position.
   1. The act of regaining the natural position after curtseying.
   2. The act of regaining the position of guard after making an attack, in fencing, sparring, etc.
4. (economics) Renewed growth after a slump.
