Republican Party (United States) dispute

There's a large dispute regarding people jumping the gun on the RfC in Republican Party (United States) and editing the article without consensus. Any chance we could get a little bit of help calming everything down and correcting any edits that violate WP:NPOV or were made without consensus? Hey again I just want to thank you for lending a hand. Would have been even more of a mess without you Retr0r0cket (talk) 05:51, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 06:19, 5 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, but may I request your attention on this page? The talk page has flared up again, but now in three sections (1, 2, 3).
The discussion has meandered into several largely unproductive tangents, from questioning whether remigration is racist to the dismissal of academics as having "a strong left-wing bias".
As most editors haven't even provided supporting citations to engage with & my seeming inability to steer the discussion back on topic, I'm honestly getting to my wit's end & am unsure how best to proceed. Butterscotch Beluga (talk) 20:18, 12 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Those threads are an absolute mess, I'm tempted to relaunch the whole conversation into focusing on the matters at hand, which are:
  • Which labels, in the article, are contentious
  • What the sources say about these labels
And, if needed, go through another RfC if there still isn't an agreement. Chaotic Enby (in solidarity · talk · contribs) 20:37, 12 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You’d have my support in doing so for the relaunch and RfC if needed. Have to love how people see a page about a political party and get all partisan instead being sane editors. Retr0r0cket (talk) 05:46, 13 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Draft BLP

Draft:Satomi Arakane (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) Hi. The above draft I encountered at AFC has some extremely personal information about the subject, who does not appear to be notable--but some of the information has been reported by cited sources. So it's not necessarily defamatory, but it still feels like a privacy concern. Additionally, the page included a former legal name, which I've removed per WP:DEADNAME. Not sure if revdel or suppression is needed and not sure what the next steps are for a draft like this, just that it doesn't seem to be eligible for speedy deletion. I reported it at WP:BLPN#Draft:Satomi Arakane and was suggested that I talk to an admin instead. I saw you on admins willing to handle RevDel after the first person I talked to sent me there. Thanks! And I apologize if I'm making too big a deal out of a draft. SomeoneDreaming (talk) 19:45, 24 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Old title of Flamingo Revolution

Hey there. I've yet to see you revert the title back to the former title. What's with the delay? George Ho (talk) 00:35, 9 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that the close was not ideal, but the best step for that is probably to open a move review, which should go pretty smoothly. Chaotic Enby (in solidarity · talk · contribs) 17:10, 9 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Your meta userpage

Can you provide an alternate version, like you do with your enwiki one? Unlike your enwiki one, it is full of animation, making it hard to interpret; as such, an alternate, text-based version like you have here would be appreciated. Research Collaboration Inquiry; AI Transparency on Wikipedia (Referred by Isaac Johnson)

Hi Chaotic Enby,

My name is Ashik Ahamed; I'm a PhD student at Clarkson University. I was referred to you by Isaac Johnson from Wikimedia Research.

I'm working on two research projects related to AI and Wikipedia:

1. A tool that automatically labels how much AI was involved in writing or editing an article (Level 1 to 5 scale) 2. Bias detection using NPOV guidelines with LLMs

Isaac thought you'd be a great person to connect with, especially given your work with WikiProject AI Cleanup. I'd love to share what we've built and hear your thoughts, and see if there's any overlap or ways we could collaborate.

Feel free to reply here or on my talk page.

Thanks, Ashik Ahamed PhD Student, Computer Science Clarkson University Ashik Ahamed CU (talk) 17:08, 18 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ashik Ahamed CU! The first point would be especially helpful, as I'm currently working on estimating the proportion of AI-generated content alongside other researchers. Please feel free to contact me by email, or through Discord (my username is quarknova), as I would love to connect with you on these projects! Chaotic Enby (in solidarity · talk · contribs) 19:02, 18 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Chaotic Enby,
Thanks so much for the quick reply! Glad to hear the AI-involvement labeling project could be useful for your work on estimating AI-generated content proportions. It's great to connect with another PhD student who's also active on Wikipedia!
Would you be open to a quick Zoom call sometime to discuss this further? I think it could be a great opportunity to compare notes and explore if there's a way to collaborate or even co-author something together.
Let me know what works for your schedule, or feel free to suggest a time!
Best,
Ashik Ashik Ahamed CU (talk) 15:59, 19 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely works for me! I've got a meeting tomorrow morning at 10am CET / 4am EST, but if you're available later in the day (anytime after 2pm CET / 8am EST), or sometimes next week, that could work too! "being nasty to admins"

I just wanted to apologise - you were right to call me out on my facetious comment about there being lots of ways to be nasty to admins; I should be careful about using what I hoped was humour in a very international, multicultural environment, and on an important subject. I don't advocate being nasty to admins, and I should have stuck to the fact that the admin system here seems to be remarkably self-governing and robust. From what I've seen, the people most likely to question an admin who misuses their tools are the other admins. Also you are right that we could be more welcoming to new editors. But frankly, a group that advocates unreliable sources is a bad welcome-party for a new editor: Encouraging them to add "balance" from iffy sources is just going to get them embroiled in bruising arguments with existing editors. Thank you for your sanity in Wikipedia! Elemimele (talk) 21:29, 20 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Elemimele! Thank you so much for taking the time to write that comment. I'll be honest, admins are also far from perfect, and while some of us can be the first to hold other admins accountable, there's also been a lot more reticence among admins (compared to other editors) to implement an admin recall process. If anything, the point which unites most admins compared to the general editor population is that we need to recruit more admins (I promise, we're not a cult!)
Regarding the welcoming part... that's definitely something I hope more people can start thinking about. Too many people easily get into a "Defender of the Wiki" mindset and forget that keeping the project healthy with new users getting involved is just as important, if not more, as fighting more obvious kinds of damage through vandalism. And yes, some new users (many, even) might not be a good fit, but others will, and I'd prefer we give them all a chance than die a slow death, suffocated in our own armor. @PhilKnight:? sapphaline (talk) 23:53, 3 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oddly enough filter logs can be suppressed, but not revision deleted. They don't match any suppression criterion, and WP:IAR doesn't apply to suppression so much. PhilKnight (talk) 23:56, 3 July 2026 (UTC)[reply]
