The state of Andhra Pradesh is currently represented by 25 members in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India. Prior to the bifurcation of the state in 2014, which resulted in the creation of Telangana, undivided Andhra Pradesh was represented by 42 members.[1] The representatives are directly elected by the electorate of Andhra Pradesh for a term of five years using the first-past-the-post voting system. The allocation of seats to each state and union territory is determined by population data from the decennial census, as mandated by the Constitution of India.[2]
