Elections to Manchester City Council were held on Thursday, 12 May 1966. One third of the councillors seats were up for election, with each successful candidate to serve a three-year term of office. The Labour Party retained overall control of the council.[1][2]

Caused by the resignation on 25 October 1966 of Alderman Robert Moss (Labour, elected as an alderman by the council on 7 May 1947).[3][4]
In his place, Councillor Dr. Patrick Buckley (Conservative, Moss Side West, elected 12 May 1955; previously 1947-54)[5] was elected as an alderman by the council on 2 November 1966.[6]
