Van Morrison (Belfast, 31 d'agost de 1945) George Ivan Morrison, conegut com a "Van" o com "el lleó de Belfast", és un cantant i compositor extraordinàriament prolífic que combina una veu molt personal amb el domini de diversos instruments com ara l'harmònica, la guitarra, el saxòfon i el piano.

La seva influència sobre diversos músics ha estat notòria. La seva música és difícil de catalogar, té influències, del jazz, soul, rhythm & blues, folk, rock, country. En la seva llarguíssima discografia, uns discs tenen major inclinació cap a un estil o un altre. Però es podria dir que Van Morrison té el seu propi estil.

Ha aconseguit entrar al top 10 dels àlbums al Regne Unit en quatre dècades consecutives, després de l'èxit de Latest Record Project, Volume 1, del 2021.[1] Divuit dels seus àlbums han arribat al top 40 dels Estats Units, dotze d'ells entre el 1997 i el 2017.[2] Des que va fer 70 anys el 2015, ha publicat –de mitjana– més d'un àlbum a l'any. Entre els seus reconeixements hi ha dos premis Grammy,[3] el Brit Award del 1994 per la seva destacada contribució a la música, el Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award del 2017 per la seva composició, i ha estat nomenat cavaller tant al Rock and Roll Hall of Fame com al Songwriters Hall of Fame. El 2016 va ser nomenat cavaller pels seus serveis a la indústria musical i al turisme a Irlanda del Nord.[4][5]
