Stronger futures through Pacific’s languages.
In the Pacific, languages carry deep cultural and spiritual identity. SIL partners with communities so their languages and people can flourish.
Across the Pacific, SIL works closely with churches and Bible societies to strengthen translation, literacy, multilingual education, linguistics, and Scripture engagement. The region’s 1,200+ languages—many spoken by only a few thousand people—shape identity, culture, and faith. Our work helps communities learn in their own languages, safeguard cultural expression, access reliable information, and engage deeply with God’s Word.
With small and under-resourced languages facing climate pressures and rapid change, long-term partnership matters. SIL Pacific invests in sustainable capacity and a multicultural workforce so the work continues well beyond individual projects. By equipping new leaders and encouraging innovation, SIL Pacific supports stronger futures for the region’s languages and the communities who rely on them.
