The Meitei Wikipedia (also Manipuri Wikipedia, Meetei Wikipedia, Meitei: ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯋꯤꯀꯤꯄꯦꯗꯤꯌꯥ) is the Meitei language edition of Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia.[1] It is the first and the only Indian language Wikipedia from the Sino-Tibetan language family. Its Incubator form was started in the year 2018 and became a complete Wikipedia in the year 2021. Till now, it has 10540 articles.[2]
Milestones
- Meitei Wikipedia was launched on 22nd of February, 2021, with more than 2000 articles from its former Wikimedia Incubator status.
- Article number 5000 was ꯲꯹꯹꯶ (an article on number 2996), created on 13th of September, 2021.
- Article number 10,000 was ꯏꯄꯨꯊꯧ ꯊꯥꯡꯆꯤꯡ ꯂꯥꯢꯁꯪ (Ebudhou Thangjing Temple), created on 30th of November, 2021.
